***Watch WISN 12 News at 5:30 & 10pm as we track showers and thunderstorms!***
Happy Easter bloggers! The entire weather team hopes that you have a great day with your family and friends.
Easter egg hunts should be dry today, but there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms by Sunday evening. These may be the first thunderstorms of 2010 in Milwaukee. The weather pattern is about to get very active. If you look back to the long range forecast that I issued last week it highlighted this week in April as a wet period. Overall for the month I still think over 4.00″ of rain will fall in Milwaukee. The total at the start of today was 0.13″. Rain totals in the next 4-5 days could fall in the 1″ to 2″ range.
I will do 2 blogs today, so check back closer to 6pm for an update on the potential rain and thunderstorms.
Around Southeast Wisconsin the threat for showers and thunderstorms will begin to increase after 5-6pm. An upper level disturbance combined with a weak front will push through the region.
Below is the surface map from the 6Z GFS. Notice the green colors over far Southeast Wisconsin. This indicates rain and thunderstorms. If thunderstorms do form…some spots may see .25″-.50″ of rain. Best chance rain will occur from the south side of Milwaukee to Kenosha to Lake Geneva. Please click on the image to enlarge and make it clearer.
After this chance of rain moves by…it looks good for the Brewers opener on Monday. We’ll talk more about the weather expected for the opener and also Milwaukee’s severe weather chances this week in a blog later today. Make sure to check back.
