WISN 12 Weather Radio Day & Rain Totals

***Watch WISN 12 News at 5, 6, & 10 p.m. for the latest on the weekend warm-up!***

Thank you for stopping by the Weather Watch 12 blog!  Earlier today, the entire Weather Watch 12 team had a chance to meet a number of our viewers at Walgreens in south Milwaukee.  Many stopped by to say hi, but most took the opportunity to have us program their Midland weather radios.

The best way to stay alerted and safe when severe weather is imminent or present, is to have a weather radio.  A weather radio is like your alarm clock, it will alert you day or night with a loud alarm, followed by the information on the watch or warning for your area.

Here are some pictures of our day at Walgreens!  Meteorologist Lyra O’ Brien started the day off during WISN 12 News with live shots from 5-7am.  A lot of people said they watched our show, then decided it was time to get a weather radio!

As we programmed the radios we also chatted about the weather with our viewers.  It was great to meet so many weather enthusiasts.  Below I am explaining how the weather radio works.

Mark and Sally quickly remembered how easy it was to program the radios.

Sally helped this lady get ready for severe weather season, her radio was programmed and ready for use in about 1 minute!

Our weather radio events are always a huge success, and today was no exception.  Don’t forget, if you missed us today, you can still get your Midland weather radio at area Walgreens.  The set-up is easy, and you too will be ready for severe weather season!

Now a quick update on the weather.  The good news is sunshine returns by the weekend, and highs will be in the 60s!  Until then, clouds will hang around to close out Thursday.  The big story was the rain, many locations picked up over 1.00″ in the last 24 hours.

Here is a list of rain totals from Wednesday evening thru Thursday.

  • Menomonee Falls  1.50″
  • Wauwatosa  1.50″
  • Kenosha  1.49″
  • Racine  1.28″
  • Milwaukee  1.27″
  • Sheboygan  0.81″
  • West Bend  0.81″

Remember, if you have a rain total to share, please post it to the comments section of the blog.

Have a great day!
