80 degrees this weekend…and questions for Friday.

Not the prettiest day today as we were stuck in the clouds. That held our temperatures down in the 50s especially near the lake. It was a little warmer inland with highs in the 60s. Overall, the forecast this week  just keeps getting better and better. Sunshine makes a strong showing for much of the rest of this week. Temperatures near the lake will be cooler through Thursday, but everyone warms up this weekend with highs in the 70s to near 80. The only day with a questionable forecast is on Friday. The computer models have been fairly consistent the last few days of bringing a low pressure center into Wisconsin on Friday. I’m not quite ready to bite on this solution. There is going to be a strong ridge of high pressure sitting over us on Thursday. This will move a little to our east on Friday, but I believe we will have a lot of dry air at the surface and sinking air aloft as this upper low tries to move in. That is not conducive for precipitation. At this point, I’m going to go with mostly cloudy skies on Friday, but stay tuned. Here is the latest midday forecast for Friday from the GFS model:

This is the national view. I wanted to show you this so you could pick out the ridge of high pressure sitting over the eastern Great Lakes. Now the regional view:

I believe the better chance of rain would stay to our south with the dry air eroding the rain as it tries to move in. Other than Friday, enjoy the sunshine and get ready for what looks to be a fantastic summer-like weekend. Thanks for reading.
