***Watch WISN 12 News for the latest on the potential for severe weather!***
Temperatures soared this afternoon and now strong to potentially severe storms could move in late Friday afternoon and into the evening hours.
In Milwaukee, high temperatures raced into the low 90s and the peak heat index hit 100 degrees! The fuel is in place for showers and potentially severe storms to occur. With that said, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in place for our ENTIRE viewing area until 8 p.m. Even if you are traveling north or south most of the western Great Lakes and parts of the Midwest are also included in the watch.
Below are the Severe Thunderstorm Watch boxes in effect until 8 p.m.
The main threats from the storms would be heavy rain, strong winds, and hail. And remember we can never rule out the possibility of an isolated tornado.
If you take pictures or video of the storms, please send them our way! Either email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or post them to the U-Local section of WISN.com
You can also post storms reports to the comments section of the blog, or on Facebook at WeatherWatch 12
