Ski Season Opens In Wisconsin…Really

Happy Sunday! What a great day. Sunshine and a high of 58 degrees. Not bad for November 7th. I would not have believed it without seeing the picture myself, but at least one ski resort was open this weekend. A big thanks to one of our weather watchers, Jake Stehli, for passing the picture along.

Tyrol Basin in Mt. Horeb, west of Madison, opened two runs this weekend. I am sure you snow lovers and skiers/snowboarders are excited to see this. The bummer for the snow lovers is the warm temps in the forecast this week. Highs will be in the low 60s Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Good news if you were hoping for more warm weather.

If you are looking for ski reports throughout the winter, check out the weather page of Here is a link for you.

On a completely separate note, I wanted to pass along another picture from our huge windstorm a week and a half ago. There have been many pictures sent to ulocal, but I wanted to show you one that was sent directly to me from Susan Buick of Hubertus.

This is a picture of their pier that was picked up and tossed more than thirty feet with some of the gusts that approached 55-65 mph. That is one storm that we will all remember for a long time. Love to see the pics. Please always feel free to share with us on the blog, FB, or on ulocal.

Enjoy the warm weather this week. Ironically, this week is winter weather awareness week in Wisconsin. I’ll have much more on this in tomorrow’s blog. Thanks for reading.
