Warmer, But Still Potentially Wet

***Watch WISN 12 News for the latest weather information!***

Thank you for stopping by the Weather Watch 12 blog.  The rain is done…for now…and mild weather has taken hold.  More rain chances are in the forecast.  In this blog we’ll look at when the next chance of showers and storms arrives, and what areas could potentially see severe weather.

Overall Friday looks dry across the area, and again temperatures away from the lake should make a run at 70 or better.  Enjoy Friday and the first part of Saturday, because a chance of showers and t-storms creeps back into the forecast this weekend.

Saturday should start dry, but a chance of showers and t-storms will move in by Saturday afternoon/evening.  Saturday will not be a washout, but have a plan ‘B’ ready if you have outdoor plans late Saturday.

Below is the NAM forecast model for later Saturday.  The green represents rain.  At least it won’t be a really cold rain like last weekend.

We’ll have to watch the storms closely this weekend for the potential to become severe.  The threat for severe storms looks to be very low on Saturday.  The Storm Prediction Center keeps the severe threat out of our area on Saturday, but still very close.

Below is the day 3 severe outlook.

SPC Day 3 Outlook Saturday

The best chance of severe weather this weekend will occur on Sunday here in southeast Wisconsin.  This is still over 48 hours away, so check back to the blog and our newscasts for updates from now through the weekend.

Finally, Tuesday evening I had a chance to talk to a group of Boy Scouts at the Elm Grove Lutheran School.  Here is a picture of some of the kids!  Thank you for inviting me to your school!

And if you are looking for a great cause to support this weekend, come out to the Healing Center’s 5K run/walk this Saturday morning at South Shore Park in Bay View.  I will be kicking off the run/walk, which starts around 9am, with registration beforehand.  If you are there, say hi and we’ll grab a picture together to post here in the blog!

Also on Saturday, the Bradford Beach Jam gets underway at 10am.  Lots to do this weekend, and at least it will be a little warmer!

Make sure to watch WISN 12 News for the latest weather information on the weekend forecast.  In the meantime, make sure to drop your thoughts off in the comments section of the blog!

Have a great day!

  1. Hey Jeremy,
I know a few weeks ago we discussed the possibilty of the April 10th warm-up repeating itself Memorial Day weekend followed by the chance of strong and or severe storms. Do you still expect this to occur again?

    • J.

The short answer is yes. I’ll start talking more about this next week.

  2. Jeremy,

I’m curious as to the cool down again next week? Another upper air low or a deep trough? And does that explain the bounce in the opposite direction with the Memorial Day warmup? We’re on a heck of a roller coaster with the jetstream this year.

  3. Hi, Jeremy!

I need to put some weed killer/fertilizer on my lawn, but the lawn needs to be wet when the stuff is applied {like from dew} and then dry for 24-48 hours after application. Given the weekend foecast, am I right to think I’m not safe to do the project on Saturday morning? When’s the next “window of opportunity” for such conditions that I need to do this work?

    • Don,

Chance of showers or t-storms both Sat/Sun. May want to hold off, but finding dry stretches is tough!

    Hi Mark & Jeremy,

Back on April 3 I marked down on my calender a baro of 29.25 at 8pm. The point of my doing so was to make a point of being sure to see what the weather would be like 49 to 50 days later. That would be this upcoming weekend! Hmmm…. very interesting!

Your little ‘ready for wind & rain’ pal,
