April Snow Showers

***Watch WISN 12 News for the latest weather information!***

The calendar may say April, but snow showers will make it look like winter briefly.  Colder air wrapping in on the backside of low pressure will change any lingering rain showers over to snow showers by Saturday afternoon from west to east across the viewing area.

Just click our interactive radar to see how long the snow will last at your home.

Interactive Radar

Shortly after 2:30pm Saturday, the radar showed a band of what was mainly snow showers moving east toward Milwaukee.  While any snow accumulation should stay on grassy surfaces and be minor, certainly a reminder that snow can appear even in mid-April!  Here is an NEXRAD radar image, almost all the moisture showing up in southeast Wisconsin was in the form of SNOW!

Snow April 16

As the band of snow moves through, please take some pictures and post them to the U-Local section of WISN.com or email them to jdnelson@hearst.com   We love sharing your photos on WISN 12 News!  The snow should be out of the area sometime Saturday evening.  Improved weather with some sunshine will return for Sunday.

Look for another blog updates later this evening.

Have a great day and stay warm!

  1. Hi Jeremy,

Just checked the irad. Don’t think I’ll get any snow pictures for you. At present anyway, looks like I’ll have a few ‘counties’ worth of rain moving through that should add to my rainfall total. Presently at 1.25 inches. I’ll be in touch with an update later.

  2. Hi again Jeremy,

OK, guess I’ll have to take back my last post….. It’s SNOWING!!

    Tony (Pl. Prairie)

    • Thanks for the update Tony!

      Jeremy

  3. Why isn’t Tony CORDIAL any more ??

    • I’ll let people sign comments any way they want. Tony does a great job reporting.

      • Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the compliment and or at least sticking up for me. I really enjoy participating in the blog. I took Dan G.’s comment as a bit of humor and in no way felt offended. If he or anyone else want to offend me, they’ll have to be less subtle. As long as I’m posting, mark my final total for rainfall as 1.30 inches as of 4:30pm.

        Cordially,
        Tony (Pl. Prairie)

  4. Just Kiddinng I thought it was nice that Tony signed his coments with cordially. I thought it was really polite (PEACE) Dan

    • Hey Dan G.

HI! I assure you I’m as cordial as ever even if I don’t spell it out. Thanks for the bit of humor. Seriously, I had a good laugh from it.

      Cordially,
      Tony (Pl. Prairie)

      • And so did I. LOL. It just finished up snowing in Oshkosh. This was the second round for the day and this time it lasted a good three hours. No accumulation on the snow board, just some minor build up on certain grassy areas. Last year, this weekend, I was golfing 18 holes at Lawsonia in Green Lake.

  5. Thanks Tony I appreciate your updates have a GOOD night Dan

  6. blizzard now here in Crivitz WI

  7. Hi, Jeremy and Fellow Weather Watchers!

This may be a bit of old news, but in connection with Friday’s precip — in the afternoon, we had wery loud thunder, jagged lightning, rain, sleet, and snow flurries — all at the same time! Bizzarre — or not so? Any thoughts from anyone?

Today — probably just like everyone else — rainy, damp, dark, dismal, windy and — from about 2 to 5 p.m., snow showers – heavy at times — accumulation just on grassy areas.

I hope it’s OK to share something personal with you all — my wife and I have a beautiful new granddaughter! Belladona Sky was 6 pounds, 1/2 ounce, and 16″ long. Lots of black hair. I got to hold her on her first day of life, the same as I did with our other two grandchildren who live nearby. Belladona joins Sabrina, age 13, and Ashton, age 7. Mom, Dad, baby, big sister and big brother are all doing fine! And of course, Grandma and Grandpa are overjoyed!

Just wanting you all to know I haven’t forgotten about you!

Will keep in touch and stay tuned!

    Don in Reeseville

    • Congratulations Don.

    • Don,

That is great news! Thank you for sharing.

We may have a hard time shaking the ‘cold’ weather this week. Stop back when you get a chance, I know this is a busy week for you!

      Jeremy
